History of “The Glitter Girls”
The Glitter Girls sprang out of two women’s desire to reinvent themselves after another fashion. After cutting their teeth on frozen waterfalls in the Canadian Rockies, both Karen McNeill and Margo Talbot made the decision to take their message further afield. Karen chose the greater ranges of Alaska, Peru, and the Himalaya, while Margo turned her attention to the polar regions of Antarctica and the High Arctic. In these respective places these mavericks of the mountains taught, climbed, and glittered their way through the landscapes of the world and their psyches. It is with this breadth of experience that they chose to turn their personal adventures into a code of becoming, and the private joke between them became a company offering its services to the potential glitterati of the world.
Karen “Curly” McNeill was alive just long enough to accomplish her dream of climbing alpine routes in most of the major mountain ranges of the world. Bedecked in faux fur and glitter jewelry, she was overlooked by none as she made her forays into these spectacular areas where there is little room for error. While she is no longer with us in body, she oversees our events in spirit. To learn more, see the original Glitter Girls site.
